About Me

I have been pondering this page for what seems like an eternity. I have, since importing spnak.com a while back, had 2 About Me Pages sat in my Drafts folder. I have gone over each of them so many times trying to think what I could consolidate and what I could get ride of. So Here I am. Getting it done and out there.

As you can probably guess from the name of the Website I am Paul Hurwood. I am in my upper 30′s but I don’t feel older than 25 or less. I have no real outstanding skills to brag about. I enjoy things, I get passionate about things.. some could say I obsess about things. I just get carried away some times.

I really enjoy writing and have done ever since I was a child. I was never very good (neat and tidy) with a Pen. But the advent of the Computer has led me to write much more than I ever did. This blog is a result of that. phurwood.co.uk was the first domain I bought way back when. It was always meant to be a blog, but it morphed through a few different incarnations over the years. Now it is the final resting place of a few abandoned projects.

A big part of my life is Mental Health. I suffer from Bipolar Affective Disorder Type II and I also have Emotionally Unstable Personality Disorder. These titles are just labels that have been attached to me by Doctors. I take medication for the conditions. Yes some times I do get a little moody and things seem very bleak for me some times, but I just get on with it. I am married to a wonderful woman, Linda. She is American. We met online in a chat room before it was a social norm. I took one almighty punt back in 2000 and I went over to visit for a few weeks. I ended up staying for 2 years and gaining a ready built family with Two grown daughter and 8 grandchildren. I love them all as if they were my own. My other hobbies include listening to Music. I like a lot of different types of music. I will give most things a try. I generally don’t listen to “Urban” music, this include.. most Rap music and 95% of chart music. I detest X-Factor and pretty much EVERYTHING it produces. There are exceptions to the rule but by and large that programme and that of it’s ilk has systematically destroyed the music scene over the past 10 years.
The music that inspires me to get through each day start with Pink Floyd and The Beatles. I was bought up on Elvis Presley and can pretty much listen to anything he ever sang and have a memory from my childhood associated with it. When I was a teenager I was a rocker. I had the ripped jeans and denim jacket with Heavy Metal band Patches sewn on the back and arms. I could Mosh for England and I did. I still listen to the music I listened to back then, but I grew up and my tastes expanded as all things should.

I enjoy watching a good film. I really enjoy Horror films. Again, I was bought up watching classic horror. Anything from Texas Chainsaw Massacre to Hammer Horror my mum would let my Brother and I watch it. it’s all shaped me to the man I am today. I also enjoy the current crop of Super Hero films. I adore the Lord of the Rings (extended) films. Star Wars is another of my favourites.. I could go on for days, but this post is getting out of hand already.
